The UT/Concho Community Garden was completed in March 2011. The garden came about through the efforts of the UT Campus Environmental Center, the largest student environmental organization on campus, and with support from the UT Office of Sustainability and the UT Division of Housing and Food Service. The goal of the garden is to generate an ample supply of produce for individual consumption, UT dining halls and local food shelters. The long term goal of the garden is to supply an on-campus farmer’s market. The mission of the garden is to serve as a vibrant resource for the community by promoting the practices of: community gardening, sustainable agriculture, & environmental cooperation. We seek to provide an open space for the forging of a community that grows with one another, the exploration of important environmental topics, and connecting to nature through food.
