Unity Park Community Garden, the first community garden established in Round Rock, Texas, was founded in 2010 by the non-profit organization Neighborhood Harvest Project, who’s mission is to promote local food and sustainable living through outreach, education and community gardening in the Round Rock area. The Baha’i Faith of Round Rock hosts the community garden on a 2 acre lot next to their Center. The all-organic garden is an allotment style community garden where each gardener tends to their own plot. 10% of each gardeners harvest to be donated to the Hope Alliance Women’s Shelter in Round Rock. All gardeners are required to volunteer throughout the year by helping maintain public portions of the garden. Neighborhood Harvest Project sponsors many events throughout the year, including free presentations, workshops, potlucks, outreach, and other activities.
