The Gardens at Gus Garcia Recreation Center–Gus Garcia Community and Senior Serenity Garden–are two community gardens based at the Gus Garcia Recreation Center in North East Austin. We are a large community garden established for growing year round vegetables and culinary herbs, all managed by dedicated volunteers. While we are not a public garden, we have ongoing educational efforts, over 20 plots, and several common areas including an herb garden, pollinator garden,  wildflower demo plot, orchard, mushroom growing, picnic tables, tool shed, compost bins, greenhouse, rain cistern, and a senior garden. We are a certified National Wildlife Federation garden and have several local volunteers and experts available to manage and assist gardeners.
