The Gardens at Gus Garcia Recreation Center–Gus Garcia Community and Senior Serenity Garden–are two community gardens based at the Gus Garcia Recreation Center in North East Austin. We are a large community garden established for growing year round vegetables and culinary herbs, all managed by dedicated volunteers.

A Senior Serenity Garden meeting at least weekly is part of the Senior program at the Gus Garcia Recreation Center. In addition to the Senior Garden, 25 garden plots are rented to individual gardeners from the community. We have ongoing educational efforts, and several common areas including an herb garden, pollinator garden,  wildflower demo plot, orchard, mushroom growing, picnic tables, tool shed, compost bins, greenhouse, rain cistern, and a senior garden. We are a certified National Wildlife Federation garden and have several local volunteers and experts available to manage and assist gardeners.

In 2019, a yaupon tree was planted in honor of Gus Garcia.
