MLK

About the Project
Sustainable Food Center (SFC) cultivates a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable food. SFC envisions a food secure community where all children and adults grow, share, and prepare healthy, local food. From seed to table, SFC creates opportunities for individuals to make healthy food choices and to participate in a vibrant, local food system. Through organic food gardening, relationships with area farmers, interactive cooking classes and nutrition education, children and adults have increased access to locally grown food and are empowered to improve the long-term health of Central Texans and our environment.

Thanks to a generous donation of land from the Meredith of Meredith Family Investments, Sustainable Food Center is creating its headquarters, which will include a new program center and community and teaching gardens, at the new MLK Jr. MetroRail Station near MLK and Airport. A team of landscape architects including Stanely Studio and LandInternactive is working with SFC and the community to create a stellar design for this garden.

The MLK Jr. Community Garden will truly belong to the community, so if you live or work nearby, we are looking for inspiration and involvement from you!
